Toyota took inspiration from Sir Edmund Hillary and his sherpa, Tenzing Norgay, who were the first people to climb Mt. Everest in 1953. I too owned a couple o3 in the past and bought another 4 years ago as my hobby truck. My wife and I bought the 03 suburban brand new .. garaged it and babied it till 2017 … sold it to a car enthusiast in 2018.. I only buy white vehicles new and ‘try to buy white used’. In 2006 I bought a very clean o3 silverado v8 shortbed regular cab w/t .. with 150 k miles for 8 grand. Sold it in 2018 with 385, 000 miles on it for same price 8k … it still was cherry looking . We are nuts about appearance and mechanical maint. When I retired n kids got outa college - I contemplated a retirement toy… I grew up with used Camaros ,GTOs and elcaminos , also early on in our marriage I restored a not so badly wrecked true 69 impala SS427. On my mind was: That o3 silverado was the first keys to grab when ever one of us needed wheels. I even had some other newer shortys too! (Supplied three girls with wheels high school n commuting to college) So after some thinking the search was on for a 99 - 07 shorty v8 , found one four years ago 29,000 miles ( as new) ( the bottom is cherry). 92 year old died , garaged it . Must have been his ‘baby’. Now … I have a cab and a half new sierra , wife has a new tahoe. Our life revolves around grandkids and bluegrass .. The o3 just sits . Once in a while I’ll start it up , go around the block or go out for breakfast ….. reality is I don’t do activities like cruise in or make use of this unicorn. But all that to say : I thought so highly of that era gm truck that it was MY choice for MY classic!

As for 2003 sub taking 6 months to sell… well even the preacher wanted it for 1/2 asking price … but usually there are folks out there that value cream puffs . A VEHICLE IS ONLY ORIGIONAL ONCE. It’s a supply demand thing.,,, it has to be in demand. And still, you might have to wait…. It’s funny about how ticked off folks get about not stealing your vehicle… heck even the deacons were doin some side talking bout me givin the preacher a deal… at the next dinner I told em all I sold it.. of course they couldn’t believe it … yelled over to my wife hey honey what did that suburban go for? I have to say it was a LS no center consul ( three seating in front) just basic.. NOW that’s how I like these trucks n suvs … LESS TO GO WRONG! Our first suburban we ordered when we only had one child : 1989 white 3/4 ton Scottsdale with running lights on top , barn doors in the back n lights n the running boards ,,, big n tall 16 wheels … it was a sight to behold in the dark! I never drove in a Dusenberg ,,, but I wondered if it was close to that 89 3/4 ton

I had a 2001 Tacoma and after 200,000 miles it still had not needed any major repairs, just standard maintenance. It was a great little truck and I wish I still had it. The only reason I sold it was that I didn’t have space for it after buying my 2016 Tacoma.

This video has very, very weak audio...and, yes, I did try to turn it up. Good trucks don't need design changes. The fact that the design has not changed for X years, should not be held against the Frontier. I've owned a 2WD 4 cyl. Stick shift Frontier since 2014. 77K miles. Turning radius is my only complaint. I use a truck as a truck, not a toy. It's perfect for that.

I bought a 2012 W212 E350 about 6 weeks ago. I already had an M4, which my wife hates. We were going on holiday in the car so I bought the E350 with 108k miles. It was very cheap and is in absolutely amazing condition. There were a couple of minor bits of body damage, which I have had fixed. It now looks more like it’s done 30k miles. The interior is almost perfect. My wife loves it and it was a great car to take on a recent driving holiday with loads of space in the boot and storage in the cabin. It’s nowhere near as much fun to drive as my M4 but it’s way more comfortable and practical and it meets with my wife’s approval so it was an absolute bargain.

Let me shorten the video Engine is solid, head gasket and leaks is the 4.0 main issues, especially rear main. Cooling is another thing to attend to. They are torque monsters, but stay away from oversized tires with out re gear Body, unibody. Has unibody problems Transmissions, decent. Both stick and auto Axles. The 35 is poor for longevity. 44 is the gold standard. Overall. They are robust vehicles with issues that is common for most older vehicles.

They really hit a sweet spot in truck history. They were the first trucks to offer modern essentials, like fuel injection, crew cabs, computer aided design, wind-tunnel testing, etc. They were the first trucks to offer 4WD in a way that hit the zeitgeist. Despite the advances, they still possessed GM's time-tested and indestructible drivetrain: big block + TH400 + 14-bolt axle, + NP205 transfer case + manual locking front hubs. They were also still relatively simple and easy to fix. Unlike the previous generation, square bodies were enormously capable, coming with tough leaf spring rear axles and the almighty 454 big block. 4x4 trucks got robust, solid front axles. Plastic was used minimally, while everything else was plate steel or cast iron. My dad drove a '79 C20 from the time I was 7 until I was in my mid-20s. He didn't maintain it well, and he worked construction, so it was no cream puff. It survived my brothers jumping it, blowing up the transmission doing burnouts, running it into a tree while playing Dukes of Hazzard in the fig orchards near our house, launching a camper full of tools off the back while trying to make a traffic light, endless racing, etc. It had several engine fires, was in constant danger of being impounded over back registration fees, and eventually was abandoned in the back yard for a decade or so before being dragged off to the scrap yard. Even so, it always started right up. You couldn't kill these trucks. I daily drive an '89 V2500 Suburban today. It's still easy to fix, has tremendous aftermarket support, is tough as nails, always gets praise from random people in parking lots (even though its a beater) and never fails to put a big grin on my face every time I get in. Just excellent, excellent trucks.

Best trucks ever. Mine developed the head gasket oil leak. I used the updated felpro head gasket to repair it, and used an aluminum intake from a 99 expedition with the improved design felpro gaskets as well. Also I torque my spark plugs to spec haha. But it’s pretty easy to avoid those issues and bullet proof these engines, although most don’t need it they go 500k easy with good maintenance. These are great trucks and everyone who’s owned one can agree.
